My Thoughts on The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch

Or probing the aliens for a change and seeing how they like it By MARTIN REZNY First, I have to say, I love the whole idea of doing a reality show filled with PhDs that’s documenting an ongoing research project. I legitimately thought we will have proof of alien life…

… that’s not your starting point, it’s my duty to inform you that the burden of proof lies with you. You must show that the null hypothesis is insufficient to describe a phenomenon where its predictions are clear, and in conflict with what can be observed and/or measured. This is a very high bar to clear, and an endeavor that no opponent of reductionism has ever succeeded at. We may not understand everything there is to know about all complex phenomena — and the more complex it is, the harder of a task it is to derive all of its properties from the fundamental — but that’s not the same as having evidence that something more is required.

Yes, the Universe really is 100% reductionist in nature

I think the problem with consciousness in particular from the reductionist point of view is that something like particle physics doesn't even begin to explain the qualitative phenomena that are the content of it, like why does chocolate taste the way it does, or why is green green. I also…

Although many have fantasized about aliens visiting human civilization here on Earth, the robust evidence that such an event has occurred is nil. Instead, natural objects, such as potentially life-containing meteorite fragments, is our best hop…

I'm sorry, but what does this sentence even mean, scientifically speaking?

I'm sorry, but what does this sentence even mean, scientifically speaking? "Robust" means there's a lot of evidence, "nil" would mean absolutely no evidence. Are you saying there's "none" of a "lot of" evidence? There's clearly a lot of some kinds of evidence that aliens may have visited Earth (all…

Purely speaking as a Czech and European Union citizen now, we literally didn't have to join either, and if the populace were to become against it overall, we can at any time have a referendum to leave either, Brexit style. The reason for that is that neither Brussels, nor Washington…

Your continued use of qualifiers makes discussion tedious.

Okay, thanks for your time. This was actually much better than I thought a debate on this with people with a differing view would be. Just a few points to make my position clear to my readers: - When I use qualifiers, it's because reality is nuanced and complicated, not…

I apologize if that sounded dismissive, the use of the word "technically" wasn't meant to refer to you not being correct about it being an attack or it being illegal. I was refering to how it may only technically mean that NATO therefore can't be defined as defensive, especially in…

On the “Defensiveness” of NATO

Or how reality is never entirely simple By MARTIN REZNY I think this comment from Jack Albrecht is worth replying to properly: “Much as I agree that Russia’s invasion was bad (even if it turns out to be technically legal under UN Article 51), this statement of yours is just…
